Zemes celebrate Nsim Ngi festival

The 8th Nsim Ngi festival a post harvest festival of the Zeme was celebrated at Mhaikam village in Peren district on Friday. Chief guest for the festival Neiba Ndang, secretary general of NCP Northeast and former Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker said peace could be achieved through unity and without unity there can be no permanent peace, “when there is peace there is progress and development in all sphere,” he said. Exhorting the gathering to preserve the rich culture and traditions and also to maintain one’s identity, he said it would be a shame if one did not know one’s own culture and traditions no matter how learned one might be. The programme of cultural dances and songs were attended by all Zeme community. Other who spoke at the festival include H. Sangtam treasurer NCP Nagaland, president NCP Mahila Dimapur district among others while D Agey Joseph, highlighted the significance of the festival.
