Association of Engineers (AOE), Nagaland PWD (NPWD), members of All Nagaland Diploma Engineers Service Association (ANDESA) – serving under Nagaland PWD – and Association of Mechanical Engineers (AoME) have suspended the proposed “agitation programme” following the fulfillment of their charter of demands. The “agitation programme” was put on hold till October 31. AOE, NPWD president Er. Khupi Natso, ANDESA president Er. Vikheto Shohe and AOME president Er. K Tsashika Wotsa, in a joint statement, acknowledged and lauded the “judicious decision” of the state government in restoring the “amalgamation principle” in respect of engineering wing of the urban development department and revocation of notification that empowered director of urban development with powers of chief engineer, works and housing department. The signatories expressed hope that government would henceforth maintain amalgamation principle while creating any engineering wing according to exigency, and placement of officers from the PWD common cadre.
