The eight-day long advanced training on Incident Command System concluded this evening at Administrative Training Institute, Kohima. The exhaustive training was particularly aimed at making the participants display the skills, knowledge and tools necessary to become a situation unit leader, planning section chief, operational section chief etc while dealing with disasters, whether in small or large scale disaster incidents.
Highlights of the training included preparation of incident action plan, tracking resources, operational planning, documentation and demobilization plan. Participants were introduced to a number of exercises that would serve as an example to tackle various incidents effectively.
Altogether 34 officials from various departments, including police department, district administration, fire & emergency services, civil defence & home guards, power, food & civil supplies, PWD, IPR, soil & water conservation, Kohima municipal council, Indian Red Cross Society and Bharat Scouts & Guards participated in the training.
Resource person of the training were Dr. Ravindra K. Pande a Prof. of Geography, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand who also earlier served as Executive Director & Prof., Disaster Mitigation & Management Centre, Government of Uttarkhand, Dehradun. The course was coordinated by Associate Prof. Disaster Management Cell, ATI, Kohima, Hovithal Sothu.
