Provision for safe drinking water at Shiyong

The World Vision India, Mon ADP in its effort to achieve 100% safe drinking water at Shiyong village, Mon District since 2006 constructed three water tanks and provided 342 nos of 50 mm G. I pipes to channel safe drinking water to the backyard of all the households. This vision was successfully achieved in September 2009. The inauguration program was organized by Village Development Committee and Village Council Shiyong on October 28 with Nyangpong SDO (C), Wakching as chief guest and Samuel Therieh, program manager, World Vision Mon ADP and Imti Ao, SDO PHED, Mon as guests of honour. Chief guest while appreciating the humanitarian works of the organization requested for more coverage of villages under the program. He also emphasized on the importance of safe drinking water and proper utilization. Further, he urged the community to extend their cooperation to any departments for the development of the village. Imti SDO PHED Mon expressed his gratitude on behalf of department to World Vision and also reminded the villagers to judiciously use the available facilities for the benefits of the village. He presented two pipe wrenches to WATSAN for proper maintenance of the pipe. Samuel Therieh program manager Mon ADP (A Project of World Vision India) shared on the status of sanitation, nutrition and immunization coverage in Mon Block. Meanwhile, VDC secretary, Pangkai on behalf of Shiyong VDC expressed gratitude to World Vision for the help and support extended.
