Dimapur District Auto Drivers’ Union has in letter to the Deputy Commissioner stated that due to the various problems being faced in installation of the meter box it has decided not to install the meter box at this point. In the minutes of the meeting held on November 1 the president and the office bearers weighed the pros and cons of the installation of the meter and found imbalance of fare in relation to existing fare; non function of installed meter box in a city like Guwahati; city standard of Dimapur was not fully achieved and initial set at Rs 15 at distance of 2km did not tally with the rate fixed by district administration at Rs 20 per town trip and the ever rising price of fuel and essential commodities. Union has requested for exemption be passed for installation of the meters for the time being.
