Nagaland Government has sanctioned revised rate of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) to government employees and pensioners respectively from the existing 64% to 73% of Basic Pension (BP) and Family Pension (FP), with effect from July 1, 2009
Additional DA has also been raised from the existing 308% to 333% from July 1 2009 in respect of state government employees drawing pay in the pre- revised scales under ROP 93. An office memorandum issued by principal secretary & finance commissioner, Toshi Aier stated that payment of dearness DA/DR involving a fraction of a rupee shall be rounded off to the next higher rupee. The memorandum also stated that no part of the arrears upto October 31, 2009 be paid in cash except in respect of those employees who have already retired from service or have died or are due to retire on superannuation on or before April 30, 2010
Other provisions governing dearness relief to the pensioners such as regulation of dearness relief in re-employment, regulation of dearness relief where more than one pension is drawn, etc., will remain unchanged, the memorandum stated. The finance commissioner requested authorized public sector banks, treasuries and sub-treasuries to arrange payment of dearness relief to the pensioners on the basis of the stated instructions.
It also requested the accountant general (AG), Nagaland, to circulate the office memorandum to AGs of all states to facilitate Nagaland government pensioners drawing pension from other states.
