Massive free medical camp held in Pungro

Perhaps, one of the biggest ever free medical camp held in the state, the Angami Baptists Church Council (ABCC) Medical Board conducted a three days medical camp involving 74 medical personnel at Pungro, under Kiphire district starting October 29. The medical camp involving 31 doctors of from various field of specialists, 15 nurses, technicians and paramedics during the three days on record attended and treated 2200 outdoor patients, performed 28 major operations, 123 minor operations, 75 Tooth extractions, 20 Ultra Sound, 351 blood test and screening for various diseases and also carried out immunizations, mass de-worming. According to reports, patients from Kiphire district and also from across the international border availed the free medical check up and treatment and free medicines. It was learnt that diseases such as Gastritis, worm infestation, gastroenteritis, hypertension, skin diseases and common body ache were the most common disease which were diagnosed during the camp. Meanwhile, MLA and parliamentary secretary CAWD, T. Torechu expressed gratitude to ABCC Medical Board for their yeomen service towards the people of the remote part of Kiphire, Pungro and also the neighbouring people from across the international border who were often denied proper medical facilities. He also thanked the team of ABCC medical board who took part in the medical camp to treat the people showing concern and love for the people of the area. Dr. Kedozeto Punyü, chairman ABCC medical board, appreciated parliamentary secretary CAWD T. Torechu for his concern for the people of the area and thanked for the support extended to the ABCC Medical Team in arranging transportation, food and lodging for the team during the camp. It may be mentioned that as part of its gospel mission, the ABCC through its medical board conduct free medical camp in remote part of the state for the past several years. The ABCC medical board is learnt to have so far conducted such free medical camp in places such as Pangso, Noklak, Tobu and Shamator.
