Finally small and medium enterprises in India can subscribe to Microsoft’s e-mail and collaboration solutions online, for $10 per user per month. All one needs to do is log on to the online services centre, add the chosen services that could range from Exchange Standard, SharePoint Stabndard, Office Communication and Live Meeting standard, to their shopping cart. A usage based bill can be settled at the end of the month. The company has announced the commercial availability of the online services in India offering prices starting at $ 2 per user per month for some of the online services. A smaller enterprise can access the suite online and start using it for a monthly rental whereas mid or large companies can migrate from their legacy systems with the help of partners like HCL Infosystems, Infosys and Wipro. While the standard suite will cost the end-users $10, they could choose individual offerings at the rate of $5 per user per month for Exchange Online, $5.25 per user per month for SharePoint. The subscription fee for Office Communication Online is $2 per month per user and for Office Live Meeting is $4.50 per user per month. The customers will have the option to use flexible models of accessing software, both on premise and off the internet or a combination of both, at pocket friendly prices. The company already has 1800 businesses on board in the 100 day trial period. Microsoft claims that the businesses can experience increased operational efficiency and the savings could be between 10 and 50 per cent of the information technology costs of a typical company. Microsoft is banking on the fact that the market for hosted email will grow at a CAGR of over 50 per cent and over 28 per cent of the email solutions will run on hosted model by 2012. The enterprise segment will leverage a combination of on-line premise and cloud-based solution to bring about efficiencies and cost cutting during this period.
