State Governor Nikhil Kumar on Thursday graced parents’ day of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Kohima as chief guest. Addressing parents and children on the occasion, the governor said that he was reminded of his days in school, which also happened to be a Catholic School. “I can see a lot of stars in the making here”, the Governor said and wished the children the very best.
He was happy to note that with the standards of character, determination and dedication the school had been producing bright and responsible citizens and expressed optimism that it would continue to do so even in future. Governor said the school being 45 years now would soon be celebrating its Golden Jubilee and therefore, urged the school to set teaching goals to distinguish itself in future as one of the best not only in Nagaland but to be at par with the rest of the nation.
The governor assured the school of his support just as was also promised by Nyiewang Konyak, minister for School Education & SCERT, who also graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Nyiewang Konyak said Little Flower Higher Secondary School was producing tremendous results since its inception and further that the school was known for imparting quality education. He also said that the school had outstanding reputation of producing many excellent and meritorious students in the state since its establishment. He also pointed out that it was the only Girls higher secondary school in the State having highest honour in the academic field. The minister stated that the ideal school was the second home and the teachers act like parents, taking part in the great task of building of a nation.
Principal of the school delivered a speech on Little Flower School at a glance. She said that the school was established in 1964 and it has been noted for its excellent performance from its initial stage. She further said that the school through the management and staff aims at developing the individuality of each pupil special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school along with leadership training so as to help them to take a rightful place in the family and society. The principal proudly said that the lives of thousands of young girls who have passed through its portals have been touched, shaped and made to bloom to heights of moral and academic excellence from the school over the years.
She further said that the school was upgraded to Higher Secondary School level in 2003 and in 2005 the school received the Computer Excellency Award from the President of India.
Apart from academic the school organised various co-curricular activities, sports and other cultural activities, NCC and guides and they also give special care for children. The daylong programme was marked by presentation of cultural extravaganzas and varieties of shows performed by the students.
