MOKOKCHUNG: The 9th state level conference of Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Nagaland branch started at Town Hall Mokokchung on Thursday. The two day conference is held on the theme ‘Emerging Challenges in Nursing’. The inaugural session today was graced by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung C.M Tsanglao who was made the impromptu chief guest as Azo Neinuo minister health and family welfare could not make it due to some unavoidable circumstances. Delivering his inaugural address, DC called upon nurses to be sincere, dedicated and determined while serving the people. He added that unless one was sincere dedicated, aspirations of the nurses will not be fulfilled. He also asked nurses to satisfy the needy people through ones character, approach so that they will be little angels in the eye of the people. Appreciating the efforts made by nurses particularly to patients, chief guest added that they form the backbone of a society.
Earlier in the program, Vikhono Yanthan, joint director nursing gave the introduction to the theme ‘Emerging Challenges in Nursing’. In her topic, joint director stressed that nursing profession had changed tremendously both in clinical as well as nursing educational and research. She further added that with the fast changing world with sophisticated medical technologies and continuous advances in medical science, nurses have to be well trained to cope and coordinate with the physicians and said “Doctors without nurses is a handicap”. Stressing the need for proper training institutions like setting up Nursing Colleges in the state for the benefit of in service diploma nurses, she added that department was initiating to establish College of Nursing in Kohima.
Other highlights of the conference included report presentations, agenda discussions and adoption of rules and regulations.
