Cultural items mark 2nd day NE fest

Day two of the ongoing 1st North East Youth Festival held at IG Stadium Kohima witnessed delegates from various states participating in different competitive and non competitive events under the theme “Youth and Creativity”. The main events of the celebration included folk song and dance, classical vocal, instrumental guitar, one act play, young artist camp. Minister for Power, Doshehe Sema inaugurated the folk song competition. Elocution and classical vocal solo (Hindustani and Carnatic) was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker, Ralanthung Yanthan at Children’s Park Hall. Six representatives from Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Manipur, Orissa, Assam and Sikkim participated.Parliamentary secretary for Youth Resources and Sports, Naiba Konyak inaugurated the instrumental Guitar competition at Children Park Amphi Theatre; while a one act play competition was also held at the multi purpose hall with twenty different groups participating. Young artist camp was inaugurated by Project Director Music Task Force, Gugs Chishi. Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangatham, Dr. C.S. Pran was also attended the function. Participants from 21 states took part in the competition. Besides the competitive events, a handicraft fair stall known as the Yuva Kriti Social Development Fair is being set up by 26 states at the venue.
