Six students of a Dimapur based school secured second place in an online American based educational foundation and won ‘free all paid for round trip’ to San Francisco in the United States of America to collect their awards in a grand week long ceremony to be held from October 11 to 15. The six students who were part of a team had put up a project called ‘Book Buddies’ and were selected as the second best entry by the international panel of judges. Ashirr, Rimi, Abdul, Akhil, Debargha and Priya of Kendriya Vidyalaya will also receive one laptop computer in addition to other awards. While three of the six students have left for San Francisco along with a single parent and the project coach Saptrshi Mazumder, the remaining three team members were not so fortunate. The delay caused by passport officials had denied three other students the opportunity of a lifetime. The students are being offered star accommodation accompanied by a single parent including sight-seeing and other benefits amounting to Rs 12 lakh per student. The students who have left for the states include Ashirr, Debargha and Akhil. While their colleagues Rimi, Abdul and Priya were not successful in getting their passports on time.
