The general body meeting of Kohima Bar Association (KBA) was held on October 6 at Kohima and the house passed resolutions relating to issues in the interest of the litigants, practicing advocates as well as the proper functioning of the court in Kohima. The house resolved to impress upon the lower courts in Kohima not to reserve the judgment in matters relating specially to bail/anticipatory bail after hearing it, as it required immediate judgement. Kohima Bar Association also decided to take up the matter with the responsible authority as delays not only created problems in the dispensation of judgments but it caste aspersions upon the integrity of the judiciary. The Kohima Bar Association has decided to demand for regular sitting of the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Kohima. KBA further expressed that the present arrangement of Chief Judicial Magistrate court for 15 days at Kohima was hampering justice to the litigants. The association also resolved to file an application under Right to Information Act (RTI) to the Department of Justice and Law to furnish detailed reports about the procedure of appointing judicial officers and also posting of judicial officers district wise and mode of selection for appointment and regularization of contract appointees in State judicial services.
