Villagers agree to Dikhu hydro electric project

The department of power in regard to Dikhu hydro electric project, a joint meeting of legislators, public leaders of Mon and Longleng and officers of power department on October 12 at DUDA Guest House, Kohima and resolved that the people of the area had no objection to the development of the project. The meeting was attended by minister of power Doshehe Y. Sema, minister of forest M.C.Konyak, parliamentary secretary Dako Phom, former minister B. Phanshok and public leaders from village of Tamlu, Buranamsang, wangching, Yongyah, Kangching, Tangha, Nian, Netnyu and Chingtoi. A release by department of power chief engineer said the department and its representatives were encouraged to continue with the ongoing survey works for preparation of detailed project report. It further said that the house understanding the importance of hydro power generation for the state’s economy and multiple facilities which can be availed through the project resolved to fully cooperate with the government and project developers for the project to become a reality.
