ATMA Kohima, Mkg conducts verification, trg

ATMA team led by T. Wabang Longkumer and Seyievono BTT convener and BTT members Jakhama and Kohima Block September 18 conducted spot verification at Sakhabama village where 50 to 100 numbers of Tree Bean (Yongchak) had been infested by semi loper caterpillars (leaves eater) where these caterpillars after consuming all the leaves, migrate only to tree bean (Yongchak) nearby. According T. Wabang Longkumer, ATMA convenor, Kohima block and Seyievono BTT convener FIAC Jakhama, Sakhabama, the only village in Nagaland popular for tree bean (Yongchak) cultivation with more than 4000 (thousand) number of trees, during harvesting, a Yongchak tree fetches about Rs. 2500 to 3500 ie, about a load of Tata mobile which is also main source of the village economic income. Also on September 30, a one-day massive campaign of spraying Dichloros 76% E C Nuvan was conducted by ATMA, Kohima led by T. Wabang Longkumer and Seyievono, BTT conveners, BTT members Jakhama and Kohima Block along with eleven number of volunteers from Sakhabama village led by Medoho youth president and VCC member, Vikhotso council secretary and Kamucho head GB. Sakhabama village has lauded G. Ikuto Zhimomi, DAO and PD ATMA Kohima for timely intervention and procurements of gater rocking sprayer and dichloros 76% E C nuvan. Meanwhile, agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mangkolemba Block, Mokokchung on October 7 conducted one-day training cum demonstration on winter crops at Longtho village. FIG members and progressive vegetables farmers from nearby villages attended the programme. Dr. Rongsentemjen, Deputy Director Veterinary and A.H and Convener FIAC, ATMA Mangkolemba block in his key note address encouraged the farmers to take up vegetables cultivation after paddy or as permanent farm and suggested the farmers to practice the advance technologies that they availed from training and demonstration. The main resource persons were Samuel Sangtam, SMS, KVK Yisemyong and Sunep, Agri. Inspector, Mangkolemba. In the technical session the resource persons explained about the cultivation practices of different winter crops including cole crop, pulses and oilseeds and also the characters and families of different crops and their companion and incompatible nature. The team also demonstrated the preparation of nursery and sowing methods and seeds were distributed among the trainees.
