Medziphema village GPS classroom extended

The additional room extension for Government Primary School (GPS) Medziphema Village was inaugurated by State Project Director (SPD), SSA Nagaland Kevi Leigise on Monday at a function held at the school premises. Speaking at the function, Leigise said the main focus of education now was on quality and to meet the needs of the people, relevant to their lives. The SPD said that interventions under SSA such as School based Training and Monitoring was to ensure that Trainers of Teachers (TOTs) actually go to schools and trained teachers. This way, trainings do not go in vain and excellence is achieved, he added. Stressing on the role of teachers, parents and community members towards ushering quality education to children, Liegise said that the knowledge imparted to students must help them in their daily lives in a meaningful way. He said that the real purpose of education should be to ensure that children of today become good and respectable citizens of the society tomorrow. Urging the members present at the function to contribute in one’s own means towards uplift of children’s education, the SPD said the facilities provided under SSA should be utilized for the purpose it was meant for. He further urged the VECs, VDB members, parents and leaders of the community to monitor and supervise the transactions in schools so that each and every one become responsible for children’s education, keeping the spirit of Communitisation in practicality. Assistant District Coordinator, DMA Dimapur, Freda Angami, who also spoke at the function, congratulated the VEC Medziphema Village for timely construction of the building and for using the funds provided by SSA judiciously. She also urged the VEC, VC, VDB and the villagers to help SSA in providing accurate data stating that inconsistencies of data provided by different Departments hampers the planning process of SSA. She appealed to the teachers, parents and community leaders to help provide quality education to the students of Government Schools. Earlier, delivering the welcome address, VEC Chairman, Khrievotso Chase made special mention to thank SSA on the contributions to the school by way of providing room extension, toilets and boundary wall. The VEC chairman informed the additional room was constructed at a cost of Rs.2 lakhs provided by SSA and the community had contributed free labour in site-leveling of the school compound. He further assured that the community would utilize any form of funds provided by SSA judiciously in the near future. Students of GPS Medziphema Village presented a welcome song at the function which was chaired by Vizokhoto Terhuja, Teacher in Charge.
