Seminar on food security and climate change was held on November 13 in Jalukie Town which was organized by Women Integrated-action for Development and Empowerment Network (WIDEN) supported by Concern Citizens Forum and Confederation of Naga Farmer’s Union (CONFU).
The main resource persons were Dr. Gabriele Duetrich and Nalini Nayak. The function was chaired by Elvina Kamei (WIDEN Secretary). Introduction of the programme was led by Rev. Amop (NEIP) who contributed valuable ideas.
A short speech was delivered by Achingpei Gangmei President (WIDEN-N) on health promotion followed by Dennis President of Peren Div. NPF on the subject of food security in the context of Peren public and farmers, encouraging participants by citing a befitting example of a story about a cow and a pig. He stated that leaders must give their best while they were alive and in position.
Widen-N President Achingpei Gangmei expressed concern that Climate change was a global phenomena and a threat to human survival. Global warming had caused changes in man, plant and animal kingdom resulting unfriendly environment and difficult in sustaining life. He stated that measures to adapt climate change must be initiated as food crises were posing threats to life on earth due to climate change. He also raised concern that people were not aware of their living conditions, situation and the threats to survival by climate change.
Further, FC UDINESE has expressed gratitude to Bamsi Iheilung ADC/DMA Peren, Hoshito Sema T.O. Peren, Lungranggai President PTYO, Machiheing Director -The Bridge, Joybell Zeliang AEO Longleng, Apeuna Iheilung D.I.S. Peren, Samkie, Azin, Raizie and each and every one who contributed towards the team participation in the recently concluded 3rd Peren District Legislature Football Tournament held at Mbaulwa, Peren Nagaland and PDRA and the Mbaulwa Village for hosting the event.
