As part of the ‘Year of Capacity Building’, the Kohima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) has constituted seven sub-committees to explore ways and means to extend help to rural villages. With its objective of ‘Rural Visitation program’ the Kohima DPDB would generate awareness of DPDB among villagers, to help create awareness and improve lives of villagers in areas of health care, education, village economy.
DPDB has proposed to organize quiz competitions for Government Schools at block and combined level. Block-wise quiz competition shall be conducted separately at their convenient time within stipulated period framed by DPDB. It will also continue to encourage Government School students to come up at par with the students of private schools by honouring the student who secures till the rank of Top 50 in the next HSLC Exam 2010.
An official bulletin informed that to encourage and recognize services rendered by teachers to their schools, three best teachers of different categories i.e Primary section, Elementary section and Secondary section shall be awarded with recognition certificates. In addition, DPDB has also proposed to recognize services of nurses and traffic policemen by felicitating them with certificates and cash award in recognition of their humanitarian services rendered.
Meanwhile, a monthly meeting of Kohima District Planning & Development Board was held on November 16 at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Beiu Angami. Regarding the upgradation of Government Middle School, Zhadima to that of a full-fledged High School, the Board decided to recommend the case to authorities after thorough deliberation. The members further discussed the grant-in-aid to Modern School, New Market Kohima wherein the house decided to write to higher authorities. The meeting also considered constitution of Verification Committee for LADP 2009-10.
The house had earlier decided to contribute some chairs to the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima to be placed near operation theatre for attendants/well wishers etc. Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Beiu Angami informed the house that night bazaar would be organized by the Kohima Chamber of Commerce during the upcoming festive season and requested all to participate in good spirit. The house also discussed on the District Planning & Development Board day-out, which would be held in the month of December.
