Bamboo unit inaugurated in Ngwalwa village

Excel Bamboo enterprise Fermented Bamboo Unit was inaugurated at Ngwalwa village under Peren district on November 17 with DC Peren, Khrienuo C. Metha as the special guest. Addressing the inaugural function Khrienuo called upon the people to grab the opportunity and work hard to generate income for economic development of the people. The chief guest also urged the gathering not to expect everything from the government but to use and manage judiciously the facilities that government had provided. She added that abundance of bamboo in the state would go a long ways to uplift the economy in generating income of the people. State Bamboo Mission member, Lipongse Thongstar in his address emphasized the need to adopt technology for value addition to bamboo products. ‘Out of over 1500 usages of bamboo application, above 700 are new products,’ he said pointing out that value of bamboo was on the upward surge. Also stating that the weather condition of the state was favorable for bamboo plantation, he impressed the villagers to take up bamboo plantation. The Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre (NBRC) will be setting up 43 micro bamboo industry units across the state to uplift the livelihood of people, he added.
