Sangsangyu block of Tuensang district observed Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) week programme on Wednesday in Tuensang. District Public Health Nursing Officers (DPHNO) P. Sanila Ao, who spoke on ‘nutrition and health education’ stressed on the importance of mothers and the vital role mothers played in the present society.
She called upon young mothers to take care for their children as children were “leaders of tomorrow’s nation”. Sanila Ao, DPHNO also urged mothers to train their children in a proper way for the common benefits of the society.
The programme started with introduction of ICDS week by Chotsase Sangtam CDPO Sangsangyu, who briefed on the activities of ICDS and said it included, supplementary nutrition, health check up, referral services, immunization services, nutrition health education and non-formal pre-education services.
Other highlights of the programme included, feeding food demonstration, baby show competition and color painting competition. The ICDS week programme is being observed across the country with an aim to develop the child in the country.
Jakhama: Department of Social Welfare observed Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) at Angawadi Centre ‘A’ Jakhama on November 18 with CDPO Jakhama, Kezevi-o Kuotsu as the speaker.
Kezevi-o Kuotsu in his speech highlighted that in conjunction with Children’s Day celebration as a tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru’s love for children, department of Social Welfare also observed ICDS Week from November 14-19 throughout the state. The celebration was marked by organising events and activities for children, celebrating their childhood, promoting mutual exchange and understanding among the children and care of nutrition at Angawadi Centres. He also stated that ICDS Scheme was one of the single largest projects in India for which he advised the workers and helpers to maintain proper records, keep the surrounding clean, besides being sincere in their duties.
Supervisor Yanbeno Humtsoe also highlighted on importance of health care of children and ICDS Schemes and it’s functioning while Alice Yepthomi spoke on importance of Nutrition with particular reference to breast-feeding. The programme was chaired by Khreisi and invocation was pronounced by Dzüvinuo.
The highlights of the programme included distribution of sweets, distribution of mid-day meal, special songs presented by the children, weight measurements of the children and group photographs. The celebration was attended by 52 Angawadi workers and helpers and around 50 children.
