Students of four colleges in Manipur threatened to leave hostels in the aftermath of harassment meted out by police commandos on Wednesday. However the students withdrew their threat following an assurance from the Manipur government. “We have decided to withdraw our threat to leave hostel as well as any other forms of agitations as education commissioner assured not to repeat the incident causing unpleasant and disturbances to the students in the hostels,” general secretary M Santosh of the DM College of Arts. State education commissioner, Mosses assured the students that appropriate measures would be taken up with regard to the incident. Students of DM College of Science, Commerce and Arts and GP Women College located in the same campus threatened to leave hostels if authority failed to initiate action against police commando personnel. Enraged hostellers submitted a memorandum to the state education commissioner reiterating their demand for appropriate action to the police commandos. In reply to the demands, the commissioner assured them of necessary action.
