National Bamboo Mission (NBM) chief consultant, Mahinder Pal paid a visit to the bamboo plantation sites to take stock of work and also flagged off a truck for Anaki cluster mat making villages at Kangtsung village, Tuli on November 19.
During his visit, NBM chief consultant appreciated the villagers for taking up mat making business for self employment and NBDM for taking up both the resource and enterprise development of bamboo to the villagers for their economic uplift.
Mahinder also visited bamboo plantation to Central nursery, Tuli, Kangtsung, Wameken and Changtongya villages and also paid a visit to Nagaland Resource Centre Dimapur. He also interacted with state Bamboo mission member and visited plantations at Boshito and Niuland areas.
It may be noted that Anaki mat making cluster comprises of six adjoining villages with monthly production capacity of 6000 mats which is supplied to Arunachal Ply Industries Limited grossing upto 3,00,000.
The truck has been financed by Nagaland State Bamboo Development Agency to assist in transporting mats from the cluster villages to the collection point at Tuli for onward supply.
