Sending out a clear message that they were dissatisfied with the style and functioning of the principal, students of the Wangkhao Government College, Mon on Friday picketed the office and residence of the former, soon after their parting social programme. According to sources, the students resorted to the picketing as their principal, Toshiba Echa allegedly failed to heed to their repeated request and appeal. The student leaders claimed that the absence of their principal has made the college “orderless.” The agitated students carried placards that read “We don’t want a Principal without Principle,” “Don’t rule college from Kohima,” “2009 without Principal,” “We want a Qualitative Principal with Dedicated Heart,” etc. The students alleged that the principal had visited the college only twice during the current year; once in the month of August and the other in the month of September. Disheartened over the absence of the principal, the outgoing students said, “our principal was absent during the freshers’ meet and now we are leaving the college without the blessing of our principal.” They alleged there were no rules and regulation in the college and that majority of the students was yet to receive their identity cards and blamed it all to the principal’s absence. The students claimed that they had to go to the principal’s residence even to submit their scholarship form, as he failed to attend college. Equally disappointed over the functioning of the principal, some of the senior lecturers were skeptical that the Wangkhao Government College would see any improvement as long as the same principal occupied the chair. Wangkhao Government College is the only college in Mon.
