Nagaland Coal Licensees Association (NCLA) has urged the state government to lift the ban on coal mining in Nagaland as the order had purportedly being taken without taking a detailed analysis of the implications. While urging the government to lift sale of coal by the Coal Prospecting License (CPL) holders, the NCLA pointed out that one of the serious implications of ban order, issued without prior notice, resulted in great financial losses by all CPL and coal mining lease (CML) holders and other parties. NCLA said the ban also affected employment opportunity for rural people who had been given opportunities to improve economic conditions in coal deposited areas. While saying that it was not advisable to do anything by way of administrative order/notification overriding the provisions of law and rules, NCLA said it was prepared to cooperate if the department/state go by the provision of the law.
