On the occasion of releasing a book – Chin: History, Culture and Identity, the Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lal Thanhawla said that Chin people living in three different sovereign countries of India, Burma and Bangladesh Burma have been longing for re-unification. The book launching ceremony was held in a Tourist Lodge in Aizawl, Mizoram on November 16. The Chief Minister said that the same people living in three sovereign countries have been known as “Chinlung Chhuak Hnam ZoFate” or in English “Chinlung Decent, Zo People”. The book is a collection of articles, written by over 30 scholars around the world and edited by Dr. K. Robin, an Assistant Professor of Mizoram University. Last year in October, an international seminar on ‘Exploring Chin History, Culture, and Identity’ was organized by the Mizoram University, the Chin Forum and the Chin National Council. It was sponsored by the EURO Burma office. Assistant Professor of History and Ethnography, Dr. K. Harn Yawnghwe, the son of the first President of the Union of Burma and the Executive Director of EURO Burma Office also expressed his profound appreciation to the Chief Minister, the people of Mizoram and the people who have been involved throughout the process. Dr. Lian H.
