A three day training program on “Re- Organization of Off- Campus course on plant production and value Addition of Medicinal Plants” was conducted from November 18 to 20 at State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) Medziphema.
The program was inaugurated by Dr.Supong Keitzar, Director of Agriculture, Nagaland. Earlier the inaugural program was chaired by principal I.E.T.C, Medziphema Lanupokyim.
Speaking as chief guest, the director enlightened the participants on the potentials and prospects of medicinal plants in N.E.H region and Nagaland. He further stressed on the importance of conservation of our natural bio-resources.
The resource persons during the 3(Three) days long training program included Dr.A.K. Bhattacharya, professor, E.E.I, Dr.M.P Borthakur, Principal Investigator Facilitation Centre, Medicinal Crops, A.A.U, Jorhat, Dr. N.N Pujari, Sr.Extension Specialist Director of Extension Education, A.A.U, Moatoshi Longkumer, Mission Director and Team Leader of Nagaland Bio- Resource Mission (NBRM), Nagaland.
The training was co- organized by E.E.I, Jorhat and SAMETI, Medziphema which was first of its kind of training in Nagaland on medicinal and aromatic plants. During the training a total of 26 field officers from agriculture department participated. Further the participants were also taken to the Land resource Development Department (L.R.D), Research cum Demonstration farm, Ruzephema as field practical. Later during Valedictory function Shri.Lanupokyim, Principal I.E.T.C gave away the course certificate to the participants.
