GPS ‘D’ block, Kohima foundation stone laid

It has been an uniting passion and dream of the denizens, inspite of facing fathomless mental strain in yearning for education institution in the colony, with the selfless donation of land by Head GB D’ Block Kohima Luo-o Kire, the foundation stone of D’ Block, GPS Kohima has been finally laid by Ward Councilor, Kohima Municipal Council Neilaselie Kire on November 16 in the presence of the Block Community and staffs of District Education Officer, Kohima. In a release D’ Block Development Committee, Kohima Chairman Pfelie Chasie said the school started in 2005 under the Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) with three teachers. “There was hard time for the managing board and the three teachers with the abolishing of EGS in 2008 by the government. Nevertheless, the teachers concerned never gave up their heart for imparting education to the children even without salary and endeavored till the up gradation to GPS in 2009” the release stated. The Block community also thanked the state government, the Education Department (GPS Cell) and MLA Dr. Nicky Kire for considering the issue to achieve the desire of the block. Meanwhile the chairman also on behalf of the block thanked Luo-o Kire, Head GB D’ Block for donating the land for the construction of new school building, Reverend NK Abraham, parish priest, SFS Church for gracing the programme, the staff and DEO Kohima district for briefing about the SSA and all citizens of the block for their tireless support and contribution.
