Two college students from Manipur were apprehended by Sub-Urban Police station personnel here on Saturday at around 3.30 pm while they were extorting money from truck drivers at Tata parking area. According to police sources, the duo identified as P Dreason (19) and J Mordecai (19) were PU students of Everest College, Senapati. At the behest of one person identified as Romeo of NSCN (K), the duo had come to Dimapur on November 19 and stayed in a hotel. They added that the next day, Romeo went out and had extorted money from FCI truck drivers. While on November 21, the duo had gone out to the Tata parking area to extort money from the drivers on Romeo’s direction but was apprehended by the police, who were already informed about the extortion. It was also reported that the trio had allegedly taken Rs 1000 and Rs 500 along with a mobile handset from two truck drivers respectively on different occasions which were however denied by the duo on interrogation by the police. The two arrested has been remanded under police custody and a case registered against them. Staff Reporter
