District Governor, Rotary International, District – 3240, Rtn. Ajit Irom on Tuesday inaugurated four water wells out of 27 odd water wells constructed in and around Mao area, under Rotary International matching grant.
The project was implemented by Intouch, an NGO based in Mao through Rotary Club, Kohima, as host club and was sponsored by Rotary Club, Lake Havasu city, Arizona, USA, under RI matching grant. The total project cost was rupees sixteen lakhs and was completed within stipulated time of two years.
During a short inaugural programme at Kalinamai village, Mao, district governor shared about the ideals of Rotary International and various humanitarian projects implemented by Rotary clubs all over the world, for the needy people.
He also assured the prospective rotary members to charter their club at the earliest possible time during his tenure as District Governor and also encouraged the villagers to join RCC (Rotary Community Corps) so that they could be part of Rotary by way of implementing Rotary projects in their area.
The function was chaired by Past President Rtn. Kezhokhoto Savi, welcome address was delivered by Dr. Lhoro, President, Intouch society, mao, followed by a short speech by Dr. Rtn. Kezevtuo keditsu, director Community Service, and vote of thanks was proposed by Rtn. Z. Tokishe sema, Director, Rotary International service.
