Legislators go on study tour

As part of the capacity building programme of the government and also on the recommendation of the All India Whips Conference for study tours by the parliamentarians, the Nagaland Parliamentary study team toured various countries from November 12 – 22 covering different types of governments including presidential form of government, democracy and kingship. Secretary, parliamentary affairs, N. Benjamin Newmai, who also went on the tour, said in a statement that the team visited countries like France, Geneva and Zurich, Switzerland and Dubai UAE and also visited important places such as Senate Building, historical monuments like Eiffel tower in France and UN Headquarters, World Health Organization, UNICEF and other important place in Geneva to the permissible limits. The Nagaland Parliamentary study team consisted of the following legislators: T. R. Zeliang, minister for planning and coordination, evaluation, veterinary and animal husbandry and parliamentary affairs; Chingwang Konyak, leader of opposition, Ralanthung Yanthan, deputy speaker, NLA; Dr. Neikeisalie Kire, MLA, chairman NKVI; advisor music task force, Vikho Yhoshu, MLA advisor IT & C; Azheto Zhimomi, MLA advisor cooperation and sericulture and C. Apok Jamir, MLA. The statement said that the department as part of its function contemplated to regularly implement the recommendations as per the availability of fund.
