A mass protest rally would be held on November 27 from 7th mile junction to 1st Gate at 9 a.m jointly organized by the Chumukedima Students’ Union (CSU) and Chumukedima Mothers’ Association (CMA). According to a joint statement issued by CSU president, Pelesavi Ruhrie and CMA president, Rokono Shuya, the protest rally is to express dissent over the “unscrupulous physical assault and unrestrained use of force” by the GPRN/NSCN activists on Peza Dozo, a class XII student of Godwin Higher Secondary School on November 21 near Patkai Christian College. It was alleged that the GPRN/NSCN cadres “unwarrantedly interfered” in a scuffle that took place over petty differences between five teenage boys and a non-local vendor. The CSU and CMA alleged that the activists cocked their AKs and hit on the back of the victim’s head and dealt him countless blows with sticks. Condemning the incident, the organizers have requested all concerned individuals to extend solidarity by attending the rally.
