The nomenclature of the ‘Night Bazaar’ which was renamed as ‘Kohima Night Carnival’ will commence from December 1 to 7 with participation from almost all business establishments in Kohima.
Addressing a press conference here at office of Kohima Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday, KCCI Vice president K Cris Kire said with the festive season of Christmas and the annual Hornbill festival, KCCI with the support of State Government will be organizing the ‘Kohima Night Carnival’ during the Hornbill festival.
KCCI Vice president said shops will be opened longer than usual from BOC to High School junction. While in the heart of the town the stretch from Phool Bari (Y- Junction) to Razhü Point will be a ‘Pedestrian only’ street from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. KCCI disclosed that stall owners will have to pay amount of money to KCCI and in turn it would give token money to Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) for cleaning the waste materials. KCCI has prohibited sale of alcohol during the carnival. Defaulters would be imposed fine and items will be confiscated, besides barring them from participating, they will also be booked under the law, KCCI stated.
Meanwhile any individual/ organisation/ entertainers interested to participate in the night carnival have been informed to collect forms from KCCI office between 10 am to 3 pm. The last date of issue will be November 26.
