Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) Thursday have jointly demanded the President of India to implement “reservation quota” in accordance with office memorandum of ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions (department of personnel training), while apprising her that the question of reservation for OBC and SC did not arise in Nagaland state, which constitute 95% schedule tribe. In a joint memorandum submitted to President of India, who is also the Visitor of Nagaland University, the NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and ENSF president Hawang Konyak said the ministry’s office memo clearly stated that Nagaland state could avail 45% reservation in group ‘c’ and ‘d’ category of posts in any office. Also, reiterating Nagaland University’s advertisement, with regard to the application invited under non-teaching posts, the federations insisted upon the President and Visitor to annul the said advertisement immediately as it did not accord with the office memorandum. It demanded to publish fresh advertisement in accordance with reservation quota for ST in all the vacant post of non-teaching staff in NU before December 10 next. Meanwhile, expressing concern over “controversies” that was hampering the growth “quality education” in Nagaland University, the NSF and ENSF stated that trend of working system under present university administration was lacking behind “its core of stability, quality and efficiency to uphold the university in its sanctity and sacredness expected of it.” The two federations further urged the President to intervene at the earliest and take action thereof.
