In search for identity and its roots, the first ever meet of the Hau khel was held in Jalukie, Nagaland. The Hau khel of Zeliangrongs in Nagaland and Rangtaina khel (Maram) of Manipur, in their brief discourse dwelt on the importance of the Hau khel in building love, peace and goodwill among the Nagas. The meet started with a formal discourse on the origin and eventual spread of the Hau khel. The objective of the brotherly meet, as stated by the khel leaders, was to promote peace and unity. While citing one example of the two Naga Army chiefs V.S Atem and S.S Khaplang as both belonging to Hau khel, Denis Elung, chairman of the meet stated that this search for the roots of the Hau khel, if properly researched and conveyed, can bring about love and mass unity among the Nagas as a whole.
