Kohima Science College Jotosma students, alumni and faculty members on Saturday celebrated the 2nd Alumni Day at the college campus.
Speaker for the occasion, Alemtemshi Jamir, additional chief secretary planning, called upon the gathering to reform and restructure their vision for a better Kohima Science College adding, “Unless we reform and restructure, we cannot attain our visions”.
Stating that there were lot of intellectual potential of the college, Alemtemshi urged the gathering to build the college into an outstanding system to compete with the rest of the world. The speaker added that Kohima Science College had to think of becoming the fittest and the best. He challenged the alumni to vision the college to be a centre of excellence for South East Asia.
Acknowledging the pioneers for their visions and contribution in the processes of growth of the state, Jamir said that it was an opportune time for the alumni and students to draw lessons from such pioneers and be inspired to be pioneers themselves.
Short speeches were also delivered by alumni of the college, Renthugo Jungio, president Alumni Association KSCJ, Dr. Joyce, and Asu Keyho, and also Megoneitso, lecturer in Botany. Songs were presented by members of Kohima Science College Students’ Union and the Alumni Association. Welcome address was delivered by the principal, Dr. Vituo Belho, while Avelu Ruho, general secretary Alumni Association, chaired the programme.
The commemoration programme was followed by open literature competitions, interaction session, exhibition and competition on painting, photography, flower arrangement, etc. A workshop on poetry writing was led by Agnes Krocha while established artists including Seyie Tepa conducted a workshop on art and also exhibited their works. A concert was held later in the evening.
