Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries will be joining the government of Nagaland in celebrating the Hornbill festival by holding Kohima Night Carnival from December 1 to 7. The carnival will start from 4 pm to 8pm every evening and during the carnival vehicular traffic from the Y junction at taxi stand till Razhu Point shall be closed. Booking and reservation for open air restaurant, stalls etc are open and interested parties are to contact KCCI office for details.
The open air restaurant will serve vegetarian, non- vegetarian, Kebabs, fast food, Tibetan, Nepali and Mao specialties. Seyie Gas, Marco fed and Belho Gas Agency will give out new connections at festival discounts while Petrol pumps of Kohima Sekhose Service, SKV agency and Krubi Agency will be issuing scratch cards to all its customers to bring them festive gifts. The KCCI has also approached the Civil supply department to make available more rice at subsidized rate and the Fisheries department to supply more fish at low cost.
The carnival will feature Santa Claus, jugglers, fire chasers, magicians, singers with guitars and tatis musicians, models along the main road of Kohima town
A joint release issued by KCCI president Kesa-O-Kesiezie and general secretary Vitshu Vizo stated that the power department has been approached to provide more uninterrupted power and to light up the town while PHE department to provide sufficient water while the home department has assured that enough policemen would be deployed to ensure a peaceful carnival. Sale of intoxicants has been forbidden.
The KCCI has thanked every department for their cooperation and appealed to all individuals to be a part of the carnival so that it becomes not only an attraction to the people of Kohima but to domestic and international tourist as well.
