26 schools in Peren district have been functioning with single teacher and insufficient teachers in almost every school under Peren. Highlighting the grievances of teacher shortage, All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association, (ANSTA) Peren stated that in spite of repeated appeals to head departments and “positive response” to provide teachers, the problem still remained. The 26 schools which were looked after by single teacher each include Government Primary Schools in Pedi, Ndunglwa, Peren Namdi, New Peren, Mpai Old, Kendung, NK Wareu, Songlhuh, Old Beisumpui, Ikiesingram, Nkio ‘B’, Nsenlwa, Ngaulong, Sailhem, Jalukiekam, Lower Sinjol, upper Sinjol, Mboupunggwa, Nkio Old, Nsong Town, Bamsiakilwa, Old Ngaulong, Ngam, Old Soget, New Soget and GMS Mhaikam. ANSTA Peren has appealed to the competent authority to deliver justice to the district by providing at least three more teachers to these schools and all the upgraded Middle Schools and High Schools within the jurisdiction.
