Imchen exhorts ASTD Golden Jubilee

Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) on Friday celebrated its golden jubilee at Senden Reju, Purana Bazaar with Home Minister Imkong L Imchen as chief guest and Commissioner & Secretary Imkonglemba IAS as the main speaker. In his speech Imkong Imchen came out strongly against prevailing tribalism, factionalism and jealousy in the Naga society and stressed unity among the various factions and tribes. He also urged Aos to be front runners for uniting all the Naga tribes. Stating that being vocal about peace and unity without action would be paying lip service and a mockery, he lauded the initiatives taken up by FNR Convener Rev Dr Wati Aier towards reconciliation among the factions. He urged people against division along petty politics or party colors but remain united for the general interest of all. He also lauded the Aos for their democratic and impartial sense in delivering justice and asserted that it was a God’s blessing on them. Later the chief guest also released the jubilee souvenir. The Home Minister was also accompanied by MLA & Chairman, NHL and NIDC, Nuklutoshi Longkumer and MLA & Advisor, NBDA. Commissioner & Secretary Industry Imkonglemba IAS, who was the main speaker at the programme, spoke on the topic “Atura (Prime years)”. Elaborating on the topic from religious, social, economic and political point of view,Imkonglemba explained that the ‘prime years’ in human was from the age of 25 to 75. He pointed out that it was during this golden period that a person builds or damages self reputation for the years ahead . He said that one could be the source of knowledge for everyone if the prime years were utilized well. He further called upon the gathering to ask wisdom and favor from God and work towards unity and progress in the society. Principal OTS, Rev Dr Wati Aier, President of Ao Senden gave short speeches while MLA S I Sungit, Parliamentary Secretary T Saku Aier and retired Director (DGM) Er S H Walling exhorted the gathering. Maharashtra Governor Dr. S. C.Jamir could not attend as chief guest due to engagements. Unlike other occasions, the gathering Friday was below expectation.
