BSNL introduces per-second billing plan

State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Friday announced the launch of per-second billing plan, under 2G prepaid mobile services from license service area w.e.f November 9. The features of the voucher are MRP of special tariff voucher (inclusive service tax) is Rs. 45 and validity 90 days. Under the new billing plan, users can make local and STD calls within BSNL network at the rate of 1 paisa per second, and other network at 1.2 paise per second. Meanwhile, another plan that has been introduced allows local and STD calls to any network at 49 paise per minute. The 49 paise/minute call is expected to help BSNL grab more users and take on the competition, as it takes the tariff to new low as far as STD calls are concerned. BSNL has also announced a lower tariff 3G services plan, under which voice calls would be charged at 30 paise per minute. Private telcos such as Vodafone, Airtel, Reliance and Aircel had already introduced per-second billing plans.
