GPRN Kyong region has expressed shock on the November 4 incident at Woroku Tongti area under Pangti village where armed robbers held up the secretary of Pangti village NREGA at gun-point and ran off with NREGA fund amounting to Rs. 24 lakhs.
The GPRN in a release by its secretary Opon H. Kyong said the heist committed in broad daylight deserved strongest condemnation and expressed sympathy to the villagers of Pangti village. It also assured its fullest co-operation to any investigating agency/group involved in a search to apprehend the culprits.
Meanwhile, apropos to the news item published on November 6 under the headline “GPRN/NSCN condemns”, the GPRN Kyong region clarified that the Kyong business community of Dimapur area was a witness to Peter Lotha’s “anti-social, anti-national activities”. However, the region said having the “highest respect” to the conciliatory efforts of Naga political groups, the GPRN releases Peter Lotha after brief questioning.
The Kyong region GPRN further said that such “immature” statements from “top-rung leaders” of Kehoi campers exhibited “ignorance” and the degree of “political degradation” setting in at Kehoi.
The statement also condemned the statement of “chairman” Lotha region Kehoi campers group, John Lotha stating that it was “amusing” to hear from a person sitting away his time at Hovukhu village issuing such “fallacious, fabricated and unwarranted” statement directed towards Kyong region without ascertaining the ground realities of Kyong politics.
