AR launches computer literacy mission

Gripped with a vision and an all inclusive policy a computer training centre was inaugurated by Commander 5 Sector AR in presence of Doungel, ADC, Medziphima, members of Kuki Christian Community, town council and town students union, Medziphima, Brig A K Singh at 20 AR location. According to a defence release, the training centre was the brainchild of Assam Rifles to extend computer training facility and internet to the local youth along with AR troops and dependents. The overall aim was to spread computer literacy within the local students and youth to help them secure a bright career and generate employment. The training centre is affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Nagaland and has most modern facilities with 10 computer terminals with internet facility and ergonomically comfortable furniture where each batch will have 20 students for training. A total of four batches would be trained for 12 weeks comprising students of Assam Rifles School, civilians from Medziphima, soldiers and families of the battalion after which they will be given a certificate of Diploma in Computer Application. The DIG in his speech congratulated 20 AR and praised the manner in which they integrated themselves with the locals for all round development. He called upon the locals and Assam Rifles to motivate others to derive maximum benefit out of the newly extended facility. Interacting informally after the function, Mhasilevi Kuostu stated that it was the first time such a facility has been extended which will help in providing opportunities to the local youth in becoming self reliant and ensure a secured future.
