Peer convention held in Tuensang, Peren

A one day peer convention was organized by Tuensang District People living with HIV under the theme ‘Lets walk with the peers on November 6 at chapel hall, civil hospital Tuensang. Dr. Thangoi, deputy CMO Tuensang in his exhortation appreciated the commitment of NTDP + in the field of HIV and AIDS and encouraged the network to work in remote areas which were vulnerable to the disease. He also encouraged PHLVs to avail of the services from the Civil hospital whenever needed. Tuensang Mothers Association president who was also present at the programme emphasized on women empowerment and for women to know their rights and stand forward in society. The president also elaborated about the VDB fund where women had 25% share. The medical superintendent civil hospital Tuensang while appreciating the network said such programmes motivated and strengthened the PHLV and spread awareness among the community. The programme was chaired by Imjonlepba Center manager PLC. The welcome address and project orientation was delivered by President NDTP +, Mongtsoa with extempore speech, quiz, solo and jokes and the vote of thanks delivered by Nzanti, social worker PLC. The NTDP extended gratitude to Women Development department and NNP+ for their support and assistance in disbursement of nutritional and financial assistance to women living with HIV and AIDS and further informed all enrolled WLHIV under Tuensang district to avail of the service on the 9th of every month till six months during office hours. Meanwhile, Network of Peren District People Living with HIV and AIDS (NPDP+) organised a one day District Level Peer Convention on the theme ‘Lets walk along with peers’ in Peren on November 6 with DS Nagi Deputy Commandant 32 AR Peren as the chief guest. Addressing as the chief guest DS Nagi said HIV and AIDS was an incurable disease and therefore everyone should be aware of spreading the disease from person to person and we should not discriminate those people living with HIV and AIDS instead we should love them with care and support at all cost, he added. He assured to extend help in all possible means for those affected people. He also lauded the NPDP+ for taking initiative for the welfare of those affected people. Others who spoke at the convention included Dr. Major, Athiko 32 AR, Robin Chawang Programme Manager, IRDS and Enoch Quinker Foundation. Earlier in the programme Husibo Pastor Liangmai Baptist Church Jalukie offered invocation and Seigin, President NPDP+ delivered welcome address while Dalu Pamei, social worker NPDP+ chaired the programme. PLHIVs, church leaders, community leaders and partner NGOs attended the convention.
