NNC Yimchungrü regional team with an objective to move forward and find a solution by bringing about a closer feeling and strengthening the free Naga nation, conducted a meeting with the village council.
Representatives from the village council said that the British had given them freedom on August 14, 1947, but was allegedly taken over and suppressed by the Indian military in all the Naga inhabited areas.
A press release issued by the regional president Yimchumgrü, AK Yimtsü, stated that suppression was the reason why late A Z Phizo was compelled to organize consultations with different regions of Nagaland that lead to war with the Indians.
The president also acknowledged the memory of late Phizo and advocated that the NNC was the foundation of Naga freedom movement.
He also asked for protection of all animals, forests and mines under Saramati jurisdiction for the benefit of the Naga people in general and particularly for the people of Pungro, and cautioned that non-Naga citizenship should be avoided and authorized the Pungro area to execute their authority to protect the land and the people.
