Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar has announced to offer government jobs to each of the victims' families and also construct a colony for 34 tribal families in Bhandarima who had fled from remote Pushparampara on the Tripura-Mizoram-Bangladesh border after an NLFT backlash in which eight people were killed. According to a UNI report, Sarkar, accompanied by his senior Cabinet colleague Manik Dey and top officials, visited the area yesterday and interacted with the victims' families. He assured a government job to each of the families as per their qualifications while instructing the administration to build houses near security camp for the villagers. Sarkar told mediapersons here today that the villagers had stated that the extremists involved in the attacks spoke in Hindi and possibly they took shelter in the deep jungles of Bangladesh. Security forces were continuing combing operations to nab them. Meanwhile, the ruling Left Front alleged that the Congress and its ally INPT have been fomenting trouble with the help of terrorist groups and stated, ''The massacre was aimed to create panic before the elections to Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections scheduled to be held in March next year.'' However, the Congress alleged that the ruling CPI(M) had instigated the incident to gain political mileage before the ADC elections and demanded judicial probe into the incident, saying, ''The ruling party has adopted a strategy to go for selective killing of villagers belonging to opposition party.'' Suspected NLFT militants attacked remote Reang-dominated Prabhurampara and Parasurampara villages under Kanchanpur police station on Tuesday, kidnapped eight villagers and killed them in a nearby jungle. The deceased were relatives of seven NLFT militants, who had surrendered before the authorities on Monday. It is suspected that the NLFT targetted the tribals retaliating against the surrender of their comrades in arms.
