Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio today called upon Dimapur citizens to set a goal for success and participate in promoting ‘commercial hub’ of the state. Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural programme of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) initiated cultural festival, marking NCD’s 60th anniversary, at Urban Haat Dimapur, Rio paid tribute to members of Naga Council who established the organization 60 years ago. He stated that Dimapur represented a “miniature India” and Nagaland in particular with all Naga tribes and people from different communities settled in the city. Underlining union government’s ‘Look East Policy’, the state chief minister said there was serious competition taking place in various cities and called upon people of Dimapur to showcase the image of the city. Further, urging people not to give place to mediocrity, Mr,Rio said government would extend necessary support in building the city. Also, he appealed to the people to cooperate and pursue the goal in making the city a major “commercial hub” to contend for “Look East Policy.” Meghalaya deputy chief minister B.M. Lanong was special guest at the occasion. The programme was chaired NCD president Savi Liegise. Earlier, he delivered welcome address. Highlights of the inaugural programme included release of Naga Council jacket/blazer & souvenir by chief guest, and felicitation of past presidents and general secretaries of the council.
