Maharaja of Royal House of Tripura Kirit Pradyot Deb Barman Manikya Bahadur Thursday asserted that Nagaland epitomizes “unification” though the people of Nagaland were divided into various communities speaking different dialects. Addressing a felicitation programme organized by Dimapur Tripura Borok Society (DTBS) for the member of royalty from Tripura at Ana Ki Hall, Dimapur today, the maharaja Kirit Pradyot called upon the people of North East to have a common cause and work under one “umbrella” in representing the region. Pointing out NE people have failed to project themselves in national arena in the past, the maharaja of Tripura underlined the need to “collectively and unitedly” form a coordination committee with a common purpose. “The youth is the future, don’t let anyone suppress you”, he said, adding that until people involve the “future” and worked towards achieving opportunities, life would be confined to the textbooks. Earlier, short speeches were delivered by DTBS president Mani Debbarma and Dimasa Public Organization Nagaland (DPON) president Ramesh Hasnu. They felicitated maharaja and highlighted on cultural and social link between Dimasas and Tripura Borok through the history of Dimapur kingdom. The function was attended by members of DPON, DTBS, Kachari Tribal Council (KTC) president, S. K. Khemprai and members of the council, Borok Baptist Church pastor, Brojeshwar Jamatia among others. Maharaja Kirit Pradyot would grace Grand Mega Concert 2009 organized by DTBS on December 18 at DDSC Stadium. The concert would feature Indian Idol 4 Sourabhee and finalists Priyanka and Rajdeep.
