TUCT opposes 33% reservation

Tribal Union Chumukedima Town has (TUCT), GBs and Chumukedima Town Council have resolved to oppose the 33% reservation for women in the forthcoming municipal and town council election. The decision was taken at a joint meeting held on December 19 at the CPO hall. TUCT president Khuluvi Assumi in a press note stated that citizens of Chumukedima town have expressed resentment over the decision of the government for passing the Women reservation act. It also stated that the reservation was totally against the Naga culture and Article 371 clause A which protected the interests of Naga customary law.
