Three held on various charges

At least three persons were arrested by Dimapur police during the past 24 hours on charges of committing various crimes. In the first incident, Dimapur police apprehended two persons while they were allegedly extorting money from NRL petrol bunk, Padumpukhuri here December 18 at around 11 p.m. Police sources said five miscreants had gone to the petrol bunk that night to extort money and in the process fired one gun shot. Immediately on reaching the spot, police apprehended two of the accused identified as one Kuhakhe (32) and Victo Zhimomi (23). However, three others managed to escape under the cover of darkness, police said. Extorted money of Rs. 400 and Rs 3000 in cash and four cell phones were recovered from their possession, police added. One empty case of 9mm pistol was also later recovered from the spot. Meanwhile in another case, police arrested one person on charges of possessing drug from Blue hill station here Saturday afternoon. Police recovered 70 tablets of Ativan, used for drugging people, from the possession of the accused identified as Bimul Dutta (48) of Dibrugarh, Assam. Staff Reporter
