The first ATM facility in Wokha district was inaugurated at State Bank of India, Wokha branch. Wokha additional deputy commissioner Ethel O Lotha inaugurated the ATM on December 19 at a formal function attended by Rev. N.T Murry, Michael Tanthan general secretary, Lotha Hoho, Ekonthung Kikon, general secretary CANSEA, Mhabemo Ezung, landlord Tsutsamo Kikon, president, pensioner association, Tsenso Ezung, secretary, pensioners association. ADC Wokha in her inaugural speech thanked the SBI for installing the long awaited ATM facility. She assured that the administration would extend help in creating banking awareness among the people.
Branch manager Lanuteka Imchen highlighted on the future plans of the bank for the people of Wokha and stressed on the rural banking by bringing the latest technology and various banking products to the common man.
He also announced that ‘Biometric ATM’ for illetrates and villagers would be launched in Wokha district very soon. Chief manager Lead Bank Wokha Mridul Gogoi who represented SBI local head office, Guwahati briefed the gathering on the use of ATM and other Banking technological products like mobile banking, internet banking etc.
