Tourism gets a boost in Mopungchuket

Mokokchung underwent a major facelift with the addition of three fully equipped ‘tourist cottages’ that was inaugurated on Sunday. Visitors can now fulfill their much desired wish to stay overnight at one of the most visited tourist villages in the state. The cottages are equipped with double beds, television, attached bathroom with 24-hour running water and room service. The resort offers indigenous cuisine. Besides, visitors also have to option to make their own meals. The caretaker of the resort, Mayangmar, informed that the process for installation of intercom telephones has also begun. Mopungchuket tourist village have been receiving encouraging inflow of tourists into the village, both local and international. With the onset of the festive season, Mopungchuket tourism is going to be a busy affair and several contacts have already been made by local tourists to book their rooms in the newly furnished tourist cottages. Besides the lodging facility, the resort is also open to booking for parties, picnics or seminars as well as to visitors for sightseeing. Tourism is a lucrative business in this village which is largely community owned. The ‘Tourist Cottages’ were inaugurated on Sunday by T. Moatuden Lemtur, EAC Mokokchung.
